Hey y'all...
Another chapter in the unfolding saga of Justin and Australia. Tonight, Kat, Gaven, and I did some flyering for the Laramie Project at the Student Union. Kat wasn't sure if she would be able to get down to the 4ZZZ (you say it "Four Triple Zed" here) radio station for the queer radio show and asked if I wanted to go, and I told her I'd be glad to, but I'd like someone else to come with me. Kat had to go to a play that night, so it turns out that she could still go, so she picked me up and off we went.
The 4ZZZ guys were really nice, and extremely well informed. We had a nice little half-hour chat with them about the show, how to book it, what it means, what it's about, and its significance.
Afterwards, we got New York Pizza (there's actually a place here called that, that charges 5 dollars a slice for normal sized pizza...!!!) and sit down and have some slices and talk about theater, 9/11, this, that, and life in general.
Then we drove back. She talked about the show she went to see that night, which was about a guy whose last name was Buntingwell, a prominent Australian actor. It was supopsed to be pretty funny. Our mutual friends Will and Belinda were there too. They all got free tickets. She also told me about the show Puppetry of the Penis show she went to go see, where the guys make crazy sculptures with their penises (things like "a ship" "a hamburger" "kentucky fried chicken." yeah, it's as bizarre as it sounds). Then she jokingly mentioned that she wanted to go home to her boyfriend and have a go with it (her boyfriend wasn't so into it.)
And you know, it didn't bother me so much. And it's not because I didn't care, because I did. But since Nadia was really honest with me (see a few posts back) about her feelings for me, it really inspired me to be honest. So when we got to Emmanuel College, I said, "Can I be super duper honest with you?" (yes I used the word duper, I'm six years old at heart, what can I say?)
She said yeah.
I said, "I have a big crush on you."
She said, "Oh wow... I'm really flattered. But I'm not in a position to do anything about it."
I said, "Yeah..." and laughed. The nervous laugh, you know the one... because what else do you do in situations like that? Then I said, "I figured I should be honest, because now we're at a point in the show where it won't mess up the production process, you know?" More laughter from me.
She said, "Yeah... But I think the world of you! I really am flattered."
I just remember laughing and feeling uncomfortable... but I wasn't horribly devastated... I don't know. I guess because I didn't let it sit and fester and mess me up.
So then I said, "Okay, well, see you tomorrow I guess!" ::ha ha ha nervous laughter.::
"Yeah," she said with a smile.
So I got out, and walked toward the gate, and she turned her car around, and when she passed me, honked her horn. I waved.
So goes another chapter of my life, onward marching into the future, forever and ever, amen.
Make the best of this test and don't ask why.
It's not a question but a lesson learned in time.
It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life.
Thanks for reading, you guys. :)
